THE CHILDREN’S CENTRE “OCEAN”

There are several directions in the centre:
Pedagogical:

• “The Museum and School”. Lessons on natural sciences on the basis of the museum expositions;
• “The School of a Young Naturalist”. Lessons in a framework of school geographical education on the basis of the courses “World of Water”, “The Planet Earth”;
• The Junior Sailing Club “Ocean”. Water sports for children and youth (sailing and rowing groups);
• “The School of Young Diplomats”. Lessons on grounds of diplomacy and international contacts aimed at tolerance among young people;
• “Ships for Unique People”. The museum programme for handicapped children and children from orphanages, boarding schools and centres;
• “Exhibitions for School”. Organizing of mobile exhibitions for educational institutions, lectures and lessons on their basis;

Methodological:

• elaboration of popular science and educational publications for children;
• elaboration of museum and methodical projects;

Edutainment:

• The week-end club - edutainment for families;
• “Yunga”- the column in the “Strazh Baltiki” newspaper;
• “Music and Sea” - concerts in the museum;
• Museum children’s holidays and actions.

Museum employees working in the centre are professionals in the field of pedagogics, geography, biology, physical training and musical education.
