A very successful programme of the Museum of the World ocean in a framework of educational activity is initiation of a junior sailing sport team. During the last five years the museum has been developing children’s sailing sport in a framework of museum pedagogics. The young museum crew won different prizes and awards in competitions held in Russia, Lithuania and Poland. The club members take part in 10 or 12 regattas annually.

Nowadays the Museum of the World ocean is a recognized leader in children’s yachting development: the international “Vitiaz’s Mile” sloop and sailing regatta, initiated by the museum, gathers lots of participants. Water sports strengthen children’s health, bring cheerfulness and feeling of safety, love and knowledge about the homeland. But the most important thing is that seafaring unites young people of different nationalities, religions and social strata; helps to acquire team spirit.

Trainings are held in the water area of the Kaliningrad gulf 4 times a week (in summer) and twice a week (in winter).
